Memorial Day weekend (Observ) Saturday

I can't believe it has been this long since I last wrote. I like everyone has been so busy with life in general. And of course, as I have explained I sew, or create to keep my sanity. My mind is on overload, I have to many ideas and beautiful , cute prints, and not enough time. So I started making piles, upon piles of matching materials for each thought I have and now it is slowly moving into the next room and on the couch and chairs. I have to stop because my Mom is coming in next weekend over the real Memorial Day so we must clean up and I'm also afraid my little Orchid will get lost winding through the chaos. Although we have had fun playing hide and seek or Peek a Boo!

Today was relaxing, My daughter, Granddaughter and myself were invited to special friends house for a nice meal, not your traditional Holiday BBQ meal. It was great, we made Brownies, French Vanilla pound cake and a Spinach salad with Strawberries, Oranges and Pecans (yum),
while they served fresh Pineapple, Lettuce, Cucumbers, Phu, Seasoned Pork and Spring Rolls..I AM STUFFED.....who knew eating light food could make you so full. DELICIOUS. Thank you dear friends for inviting us and making us so comfortable. My little Orchid had so much fun playing with their Sweet Pea.

Just a Little Bit Country

Took some vacation days this week, it was use or lose. So Tuesday, I mowed grass til it rained, played with Lil Orchid and did some sewing and other crafts. Inspired by upcoming Holidays and Summer. Wednesday, I rented roto-tiller (guy I called twice last month never showed) tilled part of new garden plot at the back of three acres until and partly during ....yes, you guessed it...a Thunder Shower. Did it really Surprise You? As my Lil Orchid sings almost 24 hrs "Rain, Rain, Go Away". Today, Thursday while the van was in the shop ($400.) BOO HOO! I worked in the garden with daughter and granddaughter... until it rained !! Of Course it did. However, we did set 72 Tomatoe plants, some peppers, spinach, cantalope, pumpkins, sweet corn. Now if it will only dry enough to finish planting cucumbers, squash, green beans and egg plant. I need SUNSHINE :)

100th Anniversary of Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I have been Blessed that I still have my mother in my life, spoke to her first thing this morning, not that it was unusual because I call her long distance every other day if not every day. My daughter made me breakfast in bed while my son bought me and his sister lunch for Mother's Day, he picked it up after he got off work so we wouldn't have to cook. And my little Orchid was the gift to all of us, and wished me and her Great Gram a "Hap Moms day." We stayed cozy inside because it was very cold and rainy with incredible winds blowing. Did a little sewing but indulged myself and took photographs this afternoon for pleasure.
I am a very Happy Mother to Day :)

Thank God it's Friday

Sorry for the laspse in time, but I'm sure no one really minded after my last post. I'm adjusting...saddness, denial, scared crazy, denial, terrified, denial, road to depression, denial okay - ACCEPTANCE. I'm strong, my family's strong, we look forward and not backwards, the glass is half full (really there's just a drop at the bottom) but it's not empty yet! I'm a Survivor. So went to a couple job fairs this week, been sewing like crazy to relax. And my little Orchid, at 2 years old, is keeping me smiling and in stitches with all the new and funny things she does and says. Thank You for All My Blessings! My Daughter, My Son and My Granddaughter, my life.

Monday, Monday on a Tuesday

Back track to yesterday, busy day at work especially with the Mothers Day holiday coming up. Did some sewing in the evening with my little Orchid straddling my left knee. Explaination, my two children used to stand on the chair seat behind me and watch over my shoulder as I sewed. My little Orchid is way to tiny so she patiently sits on my knee, hands to herself but I have learned to bob and weave past her little head to make sure my seams are straight. So maybe I should give her some credit to my creations, at least more than being my inspiration.

Well, now on Today, and I hate bringing any negativity into this blog, but they announced today that our company is closing its doors in 60 days. That's it. No Job......... Excuse me while I go and hug my little Orchid.

Sunday Morning

Thought I'd take advantage of the quiet this morning and get a little computer time done. I know my son will be writing and researching for some Executive Summary he needs to write for an interview on Monday. And I have not kept up on writing or adding items to My Etsy store. But I am proud of myself really got creative juices flowing and sewed up a storm, during the storm. Ha Ha. Anyway yesterday, took time away from things to attend a company picnic, dressed warm (in the low 60's, windy, spotted showers) but it was to be held at a Park with a covered shelter. Drove all the way there, sign says" moved to warehouse". So we drove all the way to the warehouse, not real excited because I promised my little orchid slides and a swing. I ran inside, looked around and saw kids with clubs hitting golf balls around the concrete walls and floors and YES, WE DROVE HOME. Picked up some fried chicken with fixin's and had our own picnic. Safely! By the way, I glanced at the face of our CEO, standing there, in the middle of things, staring with a look of horror on his face, as if What have I done. It was suppose to have a Luau theme to the picnic, so I started thinking, BBQ's, Summertime, Vacations, Boating, etc. Check it out........Oh yeah, remember I'm a grandma (mind wanders).....so I started thinking Memorial Day, 4th of July, Parades .....

May Poles and May Day

Sorry, no May Poles or May Day stories it just came to mind because of yesterday being May 1st. Actually like everyones life its been crazy...work, car repair, mowing before the storm (again) and a disfunctional washing machine. So after waiting for the repairman AGAIN, and the piles of dirty laundry taller than my little orchid, we have no choice but to drag ourselves, the dirty clothes in a thunderstorm to the laundrymat. UGH! Thank goodness we only have to wash them there but lugging heavy wet clothes is not my idea of fun either. Still new to this area, wasn't even sure of any location but finally remembered passing a laundrymat on the way to work. From the outside it looked fine..even better no one there this early in the morn..should go fast...have our choice of washers...YUCK! Now we know why it was empty, I'll try to explain, no not really dirty..cause you can't really clean rust, and our choice of machines meant which ever one didn't have a "out of order" or "no hot water" sign posted. The attendent in the little store next to it said I'd have to get change from the change machine located inside the laundrymat, so he broke the twenty and gave me two tens. Your right the change machine only broke ones and fives. DUH So we survived and are now drying clothes at home. My daughter cracked me up though, jumping at every little thing waiting for MJ's little friend "Ben" to crawl out from behind some door. So she occupied herself with my granddaughters stuffed kitty cat while Lil' orchid and myself brunched on a banana nut bread muffin. Life's important lesson: Don't judge a book by it's cover. Normally meaning there is good on the inside but in this case it was the opposite. :)
