Kitty Dress-up

This morning, MamMaw was feeling better, so she decided to ride with us to pick Lil' Orchid up from school. But as you can imagine, MamMaw over did it with the short trip and was misearable the rest of the day. After we took MamMaw home, we then took a short trip to Build-a-bear (to use Lil' Orchids $5 birthday coupon from the store before it expired). Since we were making the trip, this also allowed Lil' Orchid to use her birthday gift card from her Cousins. Plus we had another coupon for $10 off. So needless to say when we got there, we had lots of fun picking out new clothes for her Kitty to wear. When all was said and done, we walked out of there with 3 bags full of goodies. We had so much fun playing dress-up with Kitty once we got home.

Egg Hunts, Birthdays and Earth Hour

Today we left MamMaw on her own so Lil' Orchid could attend some local egg hunts and her Cousin's birthday. The first egg hunt we attend Lil'Orchid picked a prize egg, so she was super excited to get a bunny bowling set. We then headed over to FH's Egg hunt, which has become an annual tradition since Lil' Orchid's first Easter at home. There is always a huge crowd there (at least 100+ kids per age group). MomMom didn't get too many pictures because she was trying to make sure Lil' Orchid didn't get trampled. Lil' Orchid was actually more excited about seeing the Easter Bunny again then hunting eggs there. Our next stop was Toys R Us for their Easter event, which has all become an annual tradition. We walked around the store and collected the stickers and at the end we got a nice treat bag. Our finally stop was Rotary Club egg hunt, after the egg hunt was finished, they gave all the kids prize bags and everyone got a cookie and juice box. Lil' Orchid saved her cookie and brought it home to MamMaw. We then drove to the next county so we could attend Cousin Kiwi's 3rd Birthday. Lil' Orchid was so excited to get to see her family and she also introduced everyone to the classpet, Rainbow Star. Lil' Orchid loved getting to share her cake and ice cream with Rainbow Star and she was even more excited when Rainbow Star got a Birthday hat. We ended our day by celebrating Earth Hour. At 830pm, we turned off our lights. Because of MamMaw's needing light to take her medicine, we didn't keep them off for the full hour but we did our best.

Art-titude Night

While MamMaw slept (thank goodness the meds knock her out for an hour or two at a time so she doesn't feel the pain), Lil Orchid and I went to her school for Art-titude night. They began the night with Mrs. Maria telling a story about a Giant and how he makes a rainbow by wiping his face. After the story was done, they broke us up into groups to visit the 3 different classroom stations. Our first station was with Mrs. Maria & Mrs. Lisa where they followed the directions to make playdough. Lil Orchid was in charge of adding the salt. After they finished up, we headed to the next room where they made Rainbow Stew (which is goo made out of cornstarch, sugar, water and food coloring), which the texture of the finished product is amazing. Our finally room was to make a huge collage and to enjoy some fresh fruit snacks (yummy strawberries, melons and grapes). At the end of the night they gave each family a treat bag with additional art project instruction and some art project kits. When we got home, MamMaw had just woken up. Lil Orchid couldn't wait to give her the plate of fresh fruit she insisted we bring home to her and then told her about our night and all the fun things we did.

Good Night, Lil Orchids MomMom

A Guest for the weekend

Lil Orchid was super excited that it was her turn to bring home the classroom pet, Rainbow Star. So Rainbow Star joined us in all our activites today, which the most major accomplishment was getting MamMaw's walker (we will not talk about the phone calls/hours/hassle that it took). While MamMaw slept, Lil Orchid and I took advantage of the nice weather. She rode her scooter up and down the sidewalk while I got some outside stuff down before the weekend.

As for MamMaw, I have never in my life seen her in so much pain. The medication seems to give her no relief at all and I feel so helpless that I can't help her more.

Finally.......

Today was the day that MamMaw finally had her knee surgery. We were there forever and Lil Orchid was beyond an Angel the whole day. All the Nurses and Doctors couldn't believe what a well-behaved child she was. She kept them all on their toes asking a million questions everytime they did something to her MamMaw. Plus they were quite amazed by her vast medical knowledge already.

To make sure they knew which leg to operate on
Lil Orchid's drawing of MamMaw on her hospital bed (yes I blurred the picture)
The outcome wasn't what we wanted to hear but as always she will survive because that is all this family knows to do. So for know I will be trying to keep up this blog till she is back to her old self.
Till Later,

Hippity Hoppity to the Craft Fair

Today was the
big Spring Craft Fair
in St. Louis, Mo at the Lindbergh H.S.

But, under Mom Mom's instructions, she manned the booth while I drove down the street to a local church's Easter Celebration and Egg Hunt. Of course, Lil Orchid loved the singing of songs and all the kids, but her favorite part was playing games and hunting for eggs (well, it wasn't hunting- it was just picking them up in a room) but it was still fun until the older kids came in to get more eggs.

The fair was slower than we wanted, but we came out a little better than most.

Craft Fair and Cupcakes...

Craft Fair and Cupcakes, what a great combination.
TuTu's and Hair Bows seems to be the creation of choice today at the craft fair.

But today, a more favored topic is CUPCAKES!

Lil Orchid was getting
to celebrate her birthday
one more time with a great family friend.
Not only did she get a really cool gift
(sewing cards and
a cake pan shaped like a giant cupcake).
Boy is she excited that
her mom mom and her will soon be baking.

But her favorite part was the trip to the "Cupcakery",
where she was allowed to decorate her very own birthday cupcake !
Thanks Brian and Christie.
