Summers Weekend Fun..

Fri nite 6/26 We got reasonable tickets to the STL Cards game and the Busch Bash.

This meant we hoped to get one of only 150 free HOF Ozzie Smith's Autographs....so if you can stand in line, and wait, bite your lip when several someone's in front of you give up's to about 6-7 couples which pushes you further away down the line.

But we made it, I gave all the bags and Lil Orchid stayed with my daughter, while they ck'd bags. But with my determination, and remember I'm Old and have a Bum Knee....I made it in the stadium and made my way through the crowd to get in line. (I was getting the autograph for my son's birthday this week)

Any way seconds before the guy made it to me passing out the special autograph tickets, Heather & Lil Orchid made it to me. Cutting it close...Whoa! We were ticket # 140,141,and 142 !!!! YEAH

We got our special items autograph while snapping as many pictures as possible of Ozzie. Then headed to the SHADE!

SAT. 6/27 Hottest Day of the year and we paid to be part of an outside city wide yard sale.

We just live to far off the beaten path, and too many corn fields to have a sale at home.

How to keep cool....and draw attention! Put Lil Orchid in one of our containers and have the business next door share their water. She splashed and stayed COOL from 6am to 1pm.

It has been three years since my daughters LID was received...
3 years waiting for my 2nd Granddaughter...
As most families have found, what started out as a short wait
has turned into what seems like an eternity.....
3 years of dreaming & praying for my "Lil Ladybug".

Tuesday, A Light in the Tunnel

During that wait, I have became a MamMaw

to my beautiful granddaughter, whom I call "Lil Orchid"....

My love for my two children has always been overwhelming,

but, the day I held my 1 st Granddaughter..

a totally different kind of Love bubbled up inside me.

My Lil Orchid is 3 yrs, 3 mos, 4 days old today,

and keeps my smiling, gives me hugs and

makes my life bountiful.

And I Thank You Jesus for such a Blessed Gift.

I LOVE MY LIFE, CHILDREN, GRANDDAUGHTER!

Back to reality...

The Heat was unbearable today, heat index 110 and climbing..

We wanted to get away and celebrate our Life...

and Pray for what is to come....

The Heat , well to explain it, the blacktop road was

sticking to our tires, tar pulling at us like sticky gum,
clumps of asphalt road attached to our wheels,

driving our van clip, clopping down the street...

Finally, we arrived at our destination..

Our Lady of the Snows, National Shrine, Mary, one who looks upon us with a mother's love.

It is known that Devotion to Mary under the title of Our Lady of the Snows is one of the oldest devotions to Mary.

At the Grotto, we lite a candle in prayer, and Lil Orchid sang a couple renditions of "Jesus Loves Me"

After, we continued to another part of the Shrine Grounds

and played (Cooled Off) in the fountains.

A day devoted to Family and Peace.

Corsets and Dirndle Skirts...

What to do in this Unbearable HEAT!

Inside the house it was 89 with a 85 percent humidity...

This Rain, this Heat....I hate it!

But dripping in sweat (sorry), and bits of thread stuck to my humid skin

I drew a new pattern...

to go with my Dirndle skirts.

A Corset.....it is my first but I am pretty pleased.

You can wear it without or with a shirt underneath.

In fact I plan on making matching peasant tops for underneath

for the Fall & Winter.

Please tell me I'm right and it's not the Heat!?

Remember the most IMPORTANT thing when buying

is the length....do you want a top, a knee length,
tea length or a floor length that they could grow into for a long time.

Lil Orchid is such an easy going little sweetie and is so used to being photographed by us. Here is a photo op that had us we fall over laughing .....

she dropped her hat,

yes we missed the one with my hat half way through the fence.

just remember they don't have to have that perfect smile,

they don't even need to be looking at you,

and they don't especially need the fun taken out of pictures.....

REMEMBER

every expression on their face is a memory!
