fri.,sat.,sun....enjoying myself

Friday turned out to be more work in the yard, so I decided if I'm gonna feel bad in my knee for walking it would not be from just working & walking the 3 acres pulling weeds, trimming the creek or mowing the yard. So we are going somewhere this weekend to have fun away from the house.

Even though I felt sick Sat morn., I rode with my daughter to my granddaughter's (Lil Orchid) first t-ball game. If you all remember we are a baseball family. Go Cards!

She was so cute & serious....and surprized the Coach when she hit and understood alot of the terminology, such as choke up on the bat...it was a great morning watching her have so much fun!

Sunday, we drove to the next town over for some outdoor fun....We are close to the big city across the Mississipi River (ST Louis) but are in a farming County and surrounding IL Counties. Although we have corn & wheat in the area we are really in Horseradish Country. So we went to the big Horseradish Festival, they had food, live entertainment, free crafts and Lil Orchid got to build a birdhouse. We along with Lil Orchid, competed in the horseradish golf contest and the throwing of the horseradish contest. Horseradishes are very dense and rock hard, and I almost killed an onlooker when I threw mine...I'll stick to sewing!

We did enjoy some Horseradish Ice Cream..

it was a little gritty but tasted good!

Monday & Tuesday..Summer Session Starts

Well, Lil Orchid's summer school session starts. She enjoys herself and the short time (2 1/2 hrs) she gets to spend with her friends. She will wake up each day and once home begins to ask if school is tomorrow.

Working hard on some pillow case style tops and matching capri pants. Also appliquing alot of onesies, they seemed to sell well at the last show. My new item will be the original pillow case dresses and the pillow case style outfits (not made from true pillow cases, just cute fabric).

Although we did alot of outside work

while the weather was hot & dry

I also got a little sewing done.

But I will focus on the FUN of the weekend.

Lil Orchid enjoyed the Bike Race

that traveled the country roads past our house,

she would wave and yell "Hi" at the cyclist

as they pasted the house. As you can see she got inspired.

Otherwise, she had a blast splashing

in the little water table we found at a sale for a couple bucks.

A worth while find!

You can see we also rescued a box turtle from the road,

Lil Orchid has named him Tommy.

Mowed some grass on the high ground,

down near the creek it is still saturated from the rain.

Back to Sewing...

Since the weather has changed and it has been pouring off and on in flood downpours - I am trapped indoors..... WHY? ...cause I don't want to get wet !!!

Working on some pillow case dresses/tops. Whether you wear it as a dress or top depends on the length of the dress/top. I made a little larger arm hole so it fits most sizes (they would just wear a slip or tank top if needed) I LOVE eyelet, embroidery & Battenburg Lace!

I had alot of fun at these old estate sales.

Vintage is so beautiful, don't you think?

Oh yes..... and so is my Lil Orchid ;)

This was our 3rd day of working out in the yard,

mowing, moving yard decor and transferring plants.

It was hot and muggy because the storms

were moving into the Mississippi area.

Yes, we took our breaks in the shade and watched Lil Orchid play.

When can I rest and start sewing again ???
