Pumpkins are ready

Harvest Thyme Festival,
2nd & final day.
The weather turned warm and there were no breezes to reach a nice comfort zone, but good news "no rain". The crowds were sporadic so Lil Orchid and I slowly managed the hilly terrain during our walks while my daughter watched the tent. We met alot of new friendly vendors, who Lil Orchid calls our new friends. We would play and collect acorns we will use on a new craft idea. We are very grateful for our NEW Customers!

We met a nice young couple (Moms a teacher) who makes attractive primitive furniture, they were selling at the opposite end of the City Park. They have a 2 yr old little girl, what a cutie! So if you are looking for unique, well made accent pieces for yourself or as a gift , just email them for information of their next shows. They don't have a web site at this time, but you can reach them at:

Saturday Sunshine for the Festival

Harvest Thyme Festival,
Carlyle, IL

It was a cool morning,
made it nice for early set up.
We had a big space
to really showcase our creations.
A little disappointed,
because we asked prior
to applying if there were other children or hairbow vendors and was told only one, (there were 4 not including ourselves).
Thank goodness no one creates the quality and originality that my daughter does with her hair bows and flowers...unfortunately, they had to pass all of them before reaching us. ;(

Tobacco Horn Worm...What?

We have been struggling with what ever
was eating the leaves off our tomato plants.
We do not use pesticides,
but I have also never had this problem before,
and I have
been gardening for a very long time.
Found it today..what was this monster?
51/2 inches long and fatter than my finger...
he was surely the gluten that was devouring my plants.

Researched and found that the red horn on his head identified him as a tobacco not a tomato worm. Who would have known. Sorry he was way to fat and nasty for me to squish...
so we drove down the country road
and released him into the weeds.

None of us was
fond of his ugliness..
way to creepy!

Needles...and not the kind you sew with!

Exhausted....
she may be all smiles now but
she wasn't earlier.
Two days,
4 shots and two blood draws
is school really worth it?
She is not even in kindergarten!

Friday (the 13th)at the Fair

All week we have been working our booth at the fair but we have managed to enjoy the County Fair...we take turns walking about with Lil Orchid.

See some of the great things to do at the fair: eating cotton candy, riding the rides, seeing a chicken fashion show, tractor pulls, eating popcorn, winning gold fish, finding quaters in a haystack, seeing the farm animals and vegatables, and winning ribbons!!

On the Good Ship Lollipop...

Well, the fair is going okay, the heat is possibly keeping people away but it seems like the heat is also keeping the pillowcase dresses and hair bows selling.

But it was alot of fun tonight ...it was the youth talent competition (16 and under)
Lil Orchid (4 yrs old) still loves to sing...so she did, her number didn't go one until close to 8:30pm so she was winding down some. But she did Great...the audience loved her.

come on across the river into IL
to the St Clair County Fair.
We are set up in the Exposition Hall,
just past the main office.
You can't miss us !
Starting Tuesday thru Saturday.

I invite you here because after two successful years at StrangeFolk Festival in September,
I was only chosen as an alternate, so there is a very good chance we won't be in OFallon IL.
The Strangefolk committee wanted to change things up as they put it ;(

It doesn't cost to Enter the Fair but you pay to park $4:

My Heart is Overwhelmed

I know I should be talking about new creations, what shows I should be at next, but today I cannot bring myself to do this.

Even as I mowed the grass, or while I sat working on sewing, my mind wanders and my focus is elsewhere....
I think of my Blessings, how wonderful my son is doing, how hard my daughter works and today I am grateful for the brightest little star in the Heavens of my Life.

Four Years ago I watched in awe as the nannies of the orphanage placed in the arms of my daughter a beautiful, petite little child (5 mos old and only 11 lbs). We had already fallen in Love with her from a single, small photograph that was getting tattered from being carried close to our hearts. I stood frozen, my heart beating so hard I thought others could hear, tears in my eyes making it hard to focus on the most precious little baby.

My Granddaughter.

What a Beautiful Day in My Memory!
